Total Petrochemicals Lumicene® - A New Horizon for Metallocene Polyolefins

Total Petrochemicals announces its new technology platform of metallocene Polyethylene and Polypropylene products under the name:

Total Petrochemicals Lumicene®.

Built on proprietary technology, Total Petrochemicals Lumicene products are a new generation of metallocene polyolefins with superior cleanliness, improved gloss and transparency, better gas barrier and chemical resistance, improved processing and mechanical properties.

“Total Petrochemicals Lumicene will allow our customers to develop significantly improved products in their own markets”, summarizes Carl Van Camp, Senior Vice President Polyolefins. “This combination of metallocene catalysts and Total Petrochemicals’ production and process know-how results in a dramatic improvement in appearance, mechanical and environmental benefits, which allows the entire chain to be more competitive and to offer added value solutions.”

The Lumicene range includes polyethylene resins for film, rotational moulding, blow moulding, artificial grass and caps & closures, as well as polypropylene grades for fibers, film, injection moulding and medical applications.

Lumicene is the result of a continuous investment in innovation at Total Petrochemicals research and technology centers. “Available worldwide, Lumicene polyolefins are based on the latest generation of ‘single site’ metallocene catalysts used in the polyolefin polymerisation processes”, adds Guy Debras, Vice President Research & Development Polyolefins.
