Total Petrochemicals TP-Seal® rotomoulding technology surfs the waves at Nautic 2009
On the occasion of Nautic – Salon Nautique de Paris, which will take place from December 5 to 13, 2009 –, Total Petrochemicals in association with Sealver & Dynamic Rotomolding is proud to present the Wave Boat, a unique concept 100% made of rotomoulded polyethylene.
The 5m boat exploits the extraordinary mix of lightness and rigidity offered by the TP-Seal® technology developed by Total Petrochemicals. It is produced using a multi-layer rotational moulding process that is extremely fast and cost-efficient compared to existing techniques.
Sandwiched between solid Lumicene metallocene polyethylene layers, the foamed TP-Seal® core of extreme thickness and regularity provides all the rigidity required to sustain the speed up to 80 km/h achieved by the Wave Boat. This unrivalled performance is obtained without any compromise on the weight or the impact resistance.
Compared to standard thermoset resins used in large leisure boats manufacturing, the TP-Seal® technology also retains the thermoplastic nature of polyethylene and is thus 100% recyclable.
Lighter, stronger, greener: TP-Seal® is all that and more! Beyond marine applications, TP-Seal® indeed allows Total Petrochemicals to offer a unique solution for multi-layers and/or foamed applications. Using the Lumicene® M3671 UV resin, designers and converters have access to an unmatched balance between weight and stiffness, lifting the traditional constraints linked to the structural design of polyethylene parts.
Lumicene® M3671 UV is part of the Total Petrochemicals Lumicene® product range that also includes metallocene polyethylene resins for film, blow moulding, artificial grass and caps & closures applications.
