Your Processing Techniques - Polyethylene

Total has been a true industry leader by focusing both on top-rated products and production processes while at the same time listening to today’s industry concerns such as environmental friendly production, energy saving aspects and the economics of mass-market production for the individual. We constantly expand our activities in evolving and future markets by constantly improving products and production processes.

Blow Molding

Total Petrochemicals blow molding grades are high density polyethylenes (HDPE) characterized by their low melt flow index and a broad molecular weight distribution. They offer an optimal balance of processing and end-use characteristics in terms of impact resistance, environmental stress crack resistance and stiffness.

Available with following markets:
Automotive, Consumer Packaging, Industrial Packaging

Extrusion Cables

Some of our Total Petrochemicals medium and high density polyethylenes are used for high quality cable jacketing. These grades combine easy processing with outstanding physical properties such as excellent abrasion resistance, high hardness, low dielectric constant and very good oxidation resistance. These grades have been especially developed to meet the requirements of the communication and medium to high voltage power cable applications.

Available with following markets:

Extrusion Coating

Extrusion coating is the plastic transformation process with which molten polymer is applied on a non plastic support (paper, aluminium…).Products manufactured through the extrusion coating application are usually destined for the consumer and industrial packaging markets.

Available with following markets:
Consumer Packaging

Extrusion Films

The extensive Total Petrochemicals film resins portfolio consists of low, medium and high density polyethylene copolymers and EVA copolymers with a great variety of properties allowing for a broad spectrum of use. Grades for this application are especially appreciated in the consumer and industrial packaging markets and for other sectors such as construction or agriculture. These resins can be used in combination with other polyolefins through blending or co-extrusion techniques.

Available with following markets:
Consumer Packaging, Consumer Products, Industrial Packaging, Industrial Products

Extrusion Pipes

Total Petrochemicals pipe resins cover LdPE, MdPE, to HdPE, monomodal or bimodal grades. Our polyethylene polymers, polyethylene-hexene and polyethylene-butene copolymers are specifically developed for the production of pipes, conduits and fittings.

Available with following markets:
Industrial Pipes

Extrusion Sheets

The excellent rheological properties of specific Total Petrochemicals polyethylene grades, and more specifically, their high melt strength and broad molecular weight distribution allow easy processing such as extrusion or thermoforming and consistent quality of the finished products like trays, butcher boards, ski soles or membranes. Easy techniques such as welding and bending can also be used in order to obtain more complex finished parts.

Available with following markets:
Consumer Packaging, Industrial Products

Injection Molding

Injecting highly pressurized, molten plastic in a refrigerated mold allows the manufacturing of a wide variety of rigid finished products such as toys or caps and closures.

Available with following markets:
Consumer Packaging, Industrial Packaging, Industrial Pipes, Industrial Products

Pipe Coating

Pipe coating consists in the coating of steel pipes with a sheath of plastic protection so as to preserve the pipes from corrosion, weathering or shocks. This application is widely used in the oil and gas pipeline activity.

Available with following markets:
Industrial Pipes

Rotomolding

Rotational moulding is a manufacturing process used to produce hollow parts, with no welding involved. Unlike most other plastic transformation processes, rotational moulding is not carried out under pressure.
