Our History

Description

In the past years, PetroFina was acquired by Total and became TotalFina. Then, TotalFina merged with Elf, creating TotalFinaElf, one of the largest oil and chemical companies in the world. In May 2003, TotalFinaElf changed its name to Total. Total Petrochemicals is the chemical branch of the Total Group.

In Polypropylene, Total Petrochemicals is building on the technology and expertise of the former Elf Atochem and PetroFina groups. In particular, Total Petrochemicals is taking advantage of the experience of APPRYL in medical applications, in BOPP and in blow molding to combine it with Total Petrochemicals's global presence, mastery of the metallocene technology and leadership in key polypropylene segments such as rigid packaging and textile.

The commitment of Total Petrochemicals to the Polypropylene business led to the investment in a new world-scale production line in Western Europe , fully operational since March 2002, with a capacity around 400.000 t/y.

But this is only the start ! Together we will continue to rewrite the history of our future.
